Master List - Edelweiss Arc
Jan. 20th, 2010 08:05 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
An arc about Austria's personal growth in the ex-empire period, with a heavy AustriaxHungary element (the pairing is more often implied than shown outright, but it is a major overall theme). History is often used as a backdrop, but the fics are rarely about historical events, themselves. And, while they can all be read as stand-alone pieces, they're truly meant to fit together as a whole.
In regards to the pairing, I feel I should point out that my AustriaxHungary head-canon is far more love/hate, as opposed to just love. So...yeah. Just something to keep in mind. This is not a happy, fluffy relationship because historically, it was not a happy, fluffy relationship.
Tentatively complete. (Meaning all the fics I originally had planned for it are now finished, but I'm being careful about any more wily, stray plot-bunnies.)
Soundtrack now (finally!) available.
Chinese translations are available here!
Lastly, Forward and Reverse can be considered something of a prequel to the arc, in that it follows the same timeline.

Till We Become Accustomed To the Dark, despite being a whacktacular crossover, could (does?) actually fit into the arc as well. For the Hetalia side of things, it would probably take place right around 1920-1921.

The Edelweiss Arc
Date: 2011-08-25 09:40 pm (UTC)I am usually not a big fan of Angst, as it tends to feel overdone and excessive. I think a really good authour is one who can write a genre or setting which I do not usually like and somehow I still enjoy it, and that's how I feel about these stories. You 'show, don't tell' perfectly, letting subtle details speak volumes.
I can't wait to read more; I'm sure many of the scenarios which I would like to see, such as interactions between Russia and Austria or Hungary, are detailed in whatever works in progress you have bubbling away :)
Re: The Edelweiss Arc
Date: 2011-08-25 09:46 pm (UTC)I promise I'll try and find some criticisms once I've read through them a couple of times; I can only complement them so much before it will probably become annoying XD
Re: The Edelweiss Arc
Date: 2011-09-04 05:14 pm (UTC)Basically--thank you! =^^= Not just for the kind words, but for the why as well. Because, really, constructive praise is just as important and helpful as constructive criticism. To hear that you enjoyed these stories so much, even though the genre and tense are not your usual cup of tea, really means a lot. ^^
I noticed you also left some reviews on ff.net, which I plan on responding to as well, hopefully within the next few days. I just wanted to drop you a quick response in some shape or form ASAP, lest you think I was ignoring you, or your comments were going into some great black void in the internet. XD
