Total Fic Wordcount for 2010: Ballpark estimate at 50,000? (I admit I don't actually keep track of this.)
Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted?
I've finished and posted more fics than I expected. I can't say I had a wordcount I was shooting for, though.
What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January 2010?
AustriaxBelarus. Porn. XD Also, I somehow managed a story that fit equally into the angst and humor genres.
Did you take any writing risks this year? (See above for unexpected pairings, etc.) What did you learn from them?
I wrote the aforementioned porn (hell, just the aforementioned crack pairing, pfft!). I wouldn't say I'm a fan of it, but general consensus seems to be that I pulled it off fairly well. I doubt it's something I'll do very often, but it was nice to get out of my comfort zone in that respect.
I also did a Holocaust fic, which I felt was a big risk, simply because you worry about doing justice to such a horrific thing. The fact that it included quite a bit of humor (black humor, granted, but still humor) worried me even more. I have yet to be pointed to any wank about it, so here's hoping it went over okay (or, alternatively, that I'm just not well-known enough for it to cause wank). And, as previously mentioned, I learned that it is possible to write an angst/humor fic.
Do you have any fanfic or pro-fic goals for the New Year?
Still would like to finish Forward and Reverse, my three-part AustriaxHungary fic. On a more realistic note, I want to wrap up the Edelweiss Arc and hopefully write more Poland (Poland and Hungary, perhaps PolandxUkraine, and Poland with his honest-to-god RL smoking, drinking, Nazi-fighting BEAR).
I finally came up with pro-fic ideas this year, so we'll see. One is a parody/deconstruction of paranormal romances, and one is an angsty moving-on/maybe-romance story about an ex-chaplain and a widow. There's also a short piece I started, but then fizzled out on. I'm not holding my breath on any of them, but it would be nice if inspiration struck--particularly for the ex-chaplain/widow story, as I feel that's the strongest of the three.

My Favorite Story: Quite possibly Clotho, Lachesis, Atropos. Because I love Poland with the fiery passion of a thousand suns. But Stay On My Side Tonight also holds a rather special place in my heart. As does the yet-to-be-posted Steadier Footing.
My Best Story: The previously-mentioned Steadier Footing.
Story Most Underappreciated by the Universe: I'm lucky enough to be able to say that all my fics have gotten love of some kind or another, so...none?
Most Fun: Clotho, Lachesis, Atropos. (Does that make me a bad person? DX) Diamonds and Rust qualifies as a runner-up, though. (Really, Poland in generally just equals YES. XD) White Horses was fun in that I'm-writing-something-totally-different kind of way.
Most Surprising: A toss up. Either Till We Become Accustomed To the Dark (because it's a crack crossover), or White Horses (because it's porn).
Most Disappointing: Possibly Miles To Go. I guess...I just wish it had been longer? It feels sort of half-assed, I guess, but finished at the same time. It's just weird, that one. (Other than that, maybe Pas de Deux? It was something of a personal challenge for me, and while it turned out alright, I wouldn't say it's one of my best. (Or else White Horses? I like it up until the porn. Figures. XD))
Sexiest: White Horses. Hands down.
Sexiest Single Moment: Umm. The interchange between Austria and Belarus when she returns to Vienna for her knife. Which maybe sounds a little silly, considering there's BDSM later, but, well, what can I say?--I'm a sucker for tension.
Hardest to Write: Probably Clotho, Lachesis, Atropos, because there was a lot of research put into that, plus I felt I was walking a rather fine line with the humor. (Honorable mention goes to the WIP Consider Phlebas, which also requires a lot of research.Inter-war Austria, why must you be so fucked up? DX)

Fic That Shifted My Own Perceptions of the Characters: Clotho, Lachesis, Atropos? Granted, I thought Poland was badass before then, but I didn't know just how badass he could be. Like Morning gets an honorable mention, as it helped flesh out my perception of Liechtenstein. For being so tiny, she's pretty damn strong and brave at heart.

Unless you're referring to the fact that there are, like, five million extra sequels and prequels and whatnot--which is totally understandable, and I can't even keep up with them. XD Either way, I'm glad you can still enjoy the story, regardless.
